Road Writings

(June 20, 12)
Our campsite near Ogden, Utah
Rooftop of Rio's

Leaving Steamboat Springs, Co early afternoon. Hot sun, high mountains. Picked up camp supplies (cooler, beer, snacks...) Warm breeze and big views.  Stayed with Mark’s friends Brad and Annie.   Visited with  my meg, met Mark’s life.  Felt very happy there. Relaxed, healthy. We hiked near Hahn’s Peak on King Soloman trail.  Jumped into the cold creek near the waterfall.  Unbelievable.  The day had started with coffee anxiety, irritated interactions, communication confusion...but once we arrived, I could feel the tension ease away like a slow high coming on. The sun was hot, and I wanted to turn my head off, so I took off my swimsuit top and gave in to being in the complete wilderness. No crowds, no noise, except the rushing water and singing birds.  Mark look so handsome.  The sunsets while we were in Steamboat were beautiful. Someone across from our rooftop table at Rio’s (where we drank good strong margaritas) remarked on it’s “cantalope sky”.  On the last night we hiked up to Howelsen hill with Brad, Annie, and Mark’s friend Sean (who makes the best sandwiches at Backcountry).  Big orange Alpine sky. Good beer and good people.  Now we’re headed sounth to camp near Aspen before the Telluride Bluegrass festival. Thank you;)
